The Heritage Council HQ

The Heritage Council is based in the former Bishop’s Palace, Kilkenny.

This beautiful historic building now called Áras na hOidhreachta has been home to the Heritage Council since 2008.

How to Get here

Access to our headquarters is gained via Church Lane. Church Lane is the laneway surrounding St Canice’s Cathedral, which is accessed via Dean Street.

By Train

The Heritage Council headquarters is 1.2 km from MacDonagh Train Station, an 18-minute walk approximately. If you wish to transfer using the bus you can use the local Kilkenny City Bus Services KK1, dismounting at Dean Street stop and KK2 dismounting at Parliament Street or Vicar Street.

Parking at The Heritage Council

Please note that parking is very limited at the Heritage Council HQ, if attending an event, we recommend parking on Dean Street or at the Market Cross multi-storey car park accessible from Parliament Street or James Street.
