Heritage at the Heart is the fifth strategic plan published by the Heritage Council since its establishment under the Heritage Act in 1995. Building on the achievements of previous plans, it is an ambitious and forward-looking document, which introduces new initiatives and offers a clearly stated vision for the future.
The Heritage Resource Guide compiles a range of online heritage resources. This include archives, digital collections, data bases and inventories, GIs applications, video, mobile apps, most of which can be accessed freely on personal devices.
It covers numerous subjects e.g. archaeology and history, architecture, coastal and marine, habitats and species, museums and collections.
If you notice that a favourite resource of yours is not included, please let us know. This Guide is a living, expanding list. It was compiled as part of the Heritage Council's contribution to the European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018.

This publication features 5 Irish town -Carlingford, Westport, Tramore, Fethard and Youghal- where communities have worked to ensure that their urban centre remains vibrant but also true to its origin and identity. For these towns heritage was not a constraint but a resource used to promote and create interesting places.
